Welcome to
The Crucible Federation

Reading Corner

This page is dedicated to reading.

On this page we will try to provide you with reading resources and anything that will help you and your children with reading in school and in the home environment.

We will also be showcasing some of the work linked to reading that children have done in school.

Family reading mornings

Please remember we have family reading mornings in school in the old dining room area:

Family Reading Mornings: Parents are welcome to come into school and read with their children in the breakfast bar area or their classroom, on specific days.

  • Years 1 & 2                Tuesdays  8.40 to 9.10am
  • Years 3 & 4                Wednesdays 8.40 to 9.10am
  • Years 5 & 6                Thursdays 8.40 to 9.10am

You are welcome to stay and read a book with your child.

Oxford Owl

Is a useful website which will help you with your child's learning.  It's full of great support for reading and maths for 3 - 11yr olds.

The site has over 250 free ebooks available and they are labelled with book band colours, so you can choose the current colour band your child is reading at school and read online together.  Have a look at the website by clicking the link and access a whole library of reading books.
