Caterpillar Room
Welcome to the Caterpillar Group!
Caterpillar Room is a welcoming, nurturing place for your children. Currently the children in the morning from foundation stage and year 1. Primarily our focus is on social communication and attention. Some children will be partially integrated into their mainstream class at a pace that suits their individual needs.
We focus on one specific book each half term. The book relates to a theme, for example, jungle animals. The theme is used in our communication and language in the setting. We also love to make wonderful craft items relating to the topic to support our learning.
We have access to the soft play area each day as well as joining the foundation stage children in their playground.
This Years Topics
Over the year we try to answer three main research questions linked to the three areas of topic. These are:
Autumn 1: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Autumn 2: Rumble in the Jungle
Spring 1: Commotion in the Ocean
Speech & Language Hub
In the afternoon we are a Speech & Language Hub that holds group sessions focusing on vocabulary and sentence building. These sessions children ranging from Year 1 to Year 4.
