Year 5
Welcome to Year 5!
We are so excited for the year ahead. We have some fantastic, fun learning opportunities planned and we look forward to sharing these with your child each day!
In Year 5, your child will build on the skills that they developed in Year 4. We will continue to develop our routines, relationships and the children will grow with their independence.
Extra Information
Here at Whiteways, reading is top priority and therefore children will need to read each night. They will bring home copies of their RWI book or a book that is linked to their reading level if they are on Reciprocal Reading. Please share these texts with your child every day, taking turns reading to them and for them to read to you. Children who are on RWI will also bring home words from their ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics session to practise reading at home. Please get the children to write in the reading record books and these will be checked weekly.
Please help us get your children fully immersed in our topics by completing the home learning tasks together. As well as our topic homework, we will send home weekly reading and spellings. Most importantly, have fun and get your children talking about their learning. Year 5 will have their home learning set each week on Purple Mash but there will also be a paper overview also set.
Please see our termly newsletters and theme organisers for more in-depth information about our Y5 learning journey.
